Conifer Syrups and Cheeses – made for each other

Classic cheese board – rich creamy brie, mature cheddar, crumbly stilton and a citrus sharp goats cheese. Quite earthy and rich on their own, the sweet slightly liquorice taste of Ion Syrup

Conifer syrups can be used in so many recipes, but sometimes used neat it works very well.  My favourite accompaniment is cheese, and especially the soft cheeses with their slight citrus taste and goats cheese, cool and cloying. If like me you really adore cheese and want  a large spread of many types of cheese, some simple oat biscuits but not the addition of fruit, the syrups give a lovely contrast.  The liquid sweet aniseed flavour not only gives taste contrast, but texture too and that’s why they work so well with cheese.
